The Mox Open’s purpose has evolved over the years, beginning in 2008 when Jeff Moxham created the Keith James Family Fundraiser to help his friend in his fight with ALS. For 8 years Jeff rallied friends and family from Brookfield and beyond as he built the annual golf tournament into a successful fundraiser for Keith.

In a twist of fate, in 2016 Jeff was involved in an industrial accident that tragically left him paralyzed from the waist down. Once the organizer of this tournament, Jeff now found himself in need of the support he was used to providing. Volunteers who had helped before were eager to continue the tournament with Jeff now being the beneficiary. His friends and family took over the tournament, renamed it The Mox Open, and 4 more tournaments were organized for Jeff. As of 2022, friends and causes in need have been selected each year as the beneficiary of the event.

Proceeds from The Mox Open 2026 will support our dear friend Kathy Quinn Pond, someone many of you have known for decades through high school, college, local events, and as a longtime supporter of the Mox Open. Kathy has always shown up for others — on and off the course — offering her time, care, and encouragement whenever it was needed.

Today, Kathy is facing her own challenge. While continuing to meet it with her characteristic strength, grace, and sense of humor, she is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The associated medical and personal expenses can be overwhelming, and the proceeds from the 2026 Mox Open will help ease that burden, allowing her to focus fully on healing.
